Cattle Drive Weekend
This is an adventure of a life time. Get dirty, take the challenge and enjoy the satisfaction when you’ve done it. We invite you to join us on a weekend packed with country activities, “cowboy’ing around”and good old fashion hospitality.
Every last weekend of the month, from June till September.
Friday: Arrive at Lakeview Guest Ranch and settle in your comfortable guest room. Discover the ranch property, or join the hosts on a tour. Maybe you like to help take care of f the farm animals? Open end around the campfire while watching a spectacular sunset. Saturday: After a scrumptious breakfast, guests depart towards our partner ranch in Evansburg. At 10.30 a.m., the cattle boss will give a “cowboy one on one” briefing and matches the riders with their horses. A warm up ride is to follow in the corral. The group will pick up the first cattle herd by 11 a.m. Gather the herd and drive around 100-400 head of cattle on to new pastures. There will be bush riding, to make sure no stray animal is left behind. Around early afternoon, the group will stop for a picnic lunch break on the trail, with ranch beef smokies, roasted to perfection over a camp fire. A second herd of cattle will be picked up and herded to a new grazing area. After the cattle drive, the group will ride along beautiful riverside trails towards the cabin. Those who wish to go for a nice canter across the open fields, can do that. The other riders will move on in a slower pace toward the cabin, where a home cooked supper awaits the riders, around 5 p.m. Enjoy a drink while sitting around the camp fire on the picturesque shores of the Pembina River. Or play horse shoes and learn some lasso tricks from the pros. On a hot summer day, there is the opportunity to go for a swim and maybe you would like to ride your horse into the water. Don’t forget your swim suite and a towel. Probably tired with amazing memories of the day, guests will head back to Lakeview Guest Ranch. Sunday: Wake up late and feel well rested after a good nights sleep. Have the first cup of coffee on the sun deck and watch the horses play. Enjoy a hearty European/Canadian style breakfast. Enjoy the ranch property, where there is the opportunity to go birding along the lake, canoeing, rest on the garden swing underneath the spruce trees or take an trail ride on horseback or by bicycle. Interesting local attractions invite to go for a Sunday drive.
Weekend, package deal 2012 – Rate per person……………….. $ 350.oo + 5 % GST
Travel Alberta guests: Present your Travel Alberta package deal promo ID and receive a free Friday night dinner at Connections Coffeehouse and Restaurant. Please note: Minimum age 14, basic horseback riding skills are of advantage, participants must be able to ride for 4-6 hours over all in one day. Guests are welcome to bring their own horses, please ask for details. Groups with 6 and more riders, please ask for group rates. The cattle drive is although available as a one day adventure. Reservations have to be paid in full in advance. The organizer reserves the right to re-schedule the cattle drive event at any time. Quadding, horseback riding, massage treatments, Friday evening dinner, as well as transportation to/from Evansburg is not included in this package offer. The cattle drive is managed and hosted by our partner Ranch in Evansburg. Lakeview Guest Ranch is not responsible for any changes, nor is it liable during the cattle drive event. Minimum number of participants 6, max. 12 riders. Bookings will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Safe weather and ground conditions are required. An information sheet which answers the most frequently asked questions + a description of how to get here, will be sent to all participants with the booking confirmation. Lakeview Guest Ranch terms and conditions do apply as posted on our website. A waiver of liability has to be signed. Due to a very limited number of participants and great popularity of this event, we recommend placing a reservation early.
